It is a busy day today. Workmen are on sight finishing up the framing, completing the masonry and preparing for the plumbing rough-ins. I was surprised to see several men also wielding various tools of communication. The men are marking the territory and making way for the next stage of construction. This is being done in [...] I am now at the precious stage in the house design when I have to make selections. A lot of them. Like everything that will be in the house from the door knobs to the trim color to the countertops. Everything. I was kind of excited about picking out the lighting. Until I received the catalogues [...] There are several crews laboring on the lot today. From roofers completing the structure, to masons building the fireplace to diggers getting the septic system in place there are many people working hard to build the house. Thank you! …And men to dig out the septic [...] The entire roofline is now finished, revealing the final contours of the exterior. The roof was one of the biggest challenges in designing the house. I didn’t want just a giant lid on the box of the house. And I also did not want the entire house to have a high imposing roof. I wanted the roofline to have [...] In many ways the framing of the house is quite beautiful. It allows fleeting perspectives of the interior. Light creates new patterns in the construction
Someone has left this chair, [...] The house framing is nearly complete. The workers are now assembling the roof. The portions with the pre-assembled tresses are almost done. They next will build out the roof on the right side of the house where the rooms fit within the roof line. The roof is coming along

We only started about four weeks ago and the framing is nearly finished! The stairs are not in yet, but the ladder helps (that is why we had to get special insurance to cover the construction!). Climbing up to view the second floor
Mike the builder says we should put a deck here on the [...] While the house is being built, we are also having the lot graded to create a usable back yard. This requires dirt. A lot of it. More than 80 trucks full in fact. The dirt keeps coming to the lot
All of these loads have created a mini mountain coming off the back of the house. If [...] The framing is nearly done on the basement and main floors. It is exciting to see how the house is fitting into the landscape and how the floor plan is coming to life in 3D. The house is centered behind a great old red oak tree that graces the property
